2011

Nuevo año, nuevas esperanzas y ojala nuevas y abundantes pescas. Este año comienza en Aysén con calores inusuales y poco viento, dificultando la pesca de medio día, pero favoreciendo eclosiones de última hora. Se ven muchos insectos dando vuelta y  por lo tanto muchas truchas felices.
A continiación compartimos la primera pesca del año, como para comenzar con el pié derecho: 
 
New year, new hopes and with a bit of luck, new and abundant fishing adventures. This year begins with an unusual heat wave and no wind, making of midday fishing a difficult task, however evening hatches have been privileged. Currently there are lots of insects around therefore many happy trout.

La temporada de pesca comenzó en Octubre y ha estado bastante movida, por lo que hay poco tiempo para el computador. A continuación algunas imágenes de quienes nos han visitado…

 Season begun in October and we have been quite busy, so we have little time to spend in front of the computer. Now we’d like to share some pictures of happy guests…

Bicentenario

La semana pasada Chile celebro su bicentenario. Podemos pensar 200 razones por las cuales te gustaría castear tu mosca en el pool de la foto. ¿Te gusta lo que ves?  

Last week Chile celebrated its bicentennial anniversary. We could think 200 reasons why you would like to cast your fly into the pretty pool pictured below. Like what you see?

Razón #1: por que aquí vive un Fario de 5 kilos que se alimenta en la superficie.

Buceando entre mis archivos fotográficos encontré un par de fotos que recuerdan la importancia de usar anteojos al pescar, así como practicar su técnica de casting antes de llegar al agua.    

Diving through my Photo archives I bumped into a couple of reminders about the importance of using sunglasses when fishing, along with practicing your casting skills before you hit the water.

Viento y moscas pesadas, combinación peligrosa.

 Por eso siempre hay que andar con elementos para prestar primeros auxilios. En ambos casos se necesitó una pequeña intervención para luego continuar pescando como si nada hubiera pasado.

That’s why one should always have some elements to give first aid. In both cases a small procedure was needed and the day continued like if nothing happened.

Buena semana

Durante la semana recién pasada el clima tuvo una gran mejoría, fue bastante estable y lleno de sol. La nieve sigue despareciendo a paso estable y controlado por las bajas temperaturas promedio. Todo se perfila para un buen comienzo de temporada.

 During the past week weather had a great improvement; it was pretty stable and full of sun. Snow keeps melting at a stable and controlled pace, regulated by the low average temperatures. It all points to a great season opening.

High mountain stream

En medio del paisaje monocromático de invierno hay una especie que resalta por su color. El Misodendro o Farolito, Misodendrum punctulatum:                                                                                                                                 Planta hemi-parásita de bosques de Nothofagus                                          Etimología: Del griego miso = sobre; dendrum = árbol.  

In the middle of the monochromatic winter landscape there is one specie that stands out for its colour. Misodendro or Farolito, Misodendrum punctulatum:                                                                                                                               Hemi-parasite plant on Nothofagus trees.                                                                       Etymology: from the Greek “miso” = “on top of” and “dendrum” = tree.

 Se supone que no se debe pescar en estas fechas, pero de igual modo se pueden capturar truchas, con el clic de la cámara.

Fishing is forbidden during this time of the year but you can still catch trout, with the click of your camera.

Rompiendo la escarcha invernal con noticias del pirata polinesio. Cuando vi las fotos quedé loco! Mucho color.

 Breaking winter ice with news from our pirate friend. When I first saw the pictures I went crazy! So much colour in it.

Aguas infestadas de peces

Por lo general las sesiones nocturnas son muy productivas y se dan sorpresivas capturas. Durante la noche los peces se vuelven más agresivos y menos cautelosos, atacando cualquier cosa que se mueva cerca de ellos.

Generally speaking, night sessions are quite productive and catches are always a surprise. At night, predator fish become less wary and more aggressive, attacking anything that moves near them.  

Otro Big Eye Tre; ojo con la punta blanca de la dorsal, la clave para distinguir esta especie.

A quien le importa el tamaño cuando aterrizas un Blue Fin Tre, probablemente el pez más vistoso de todos.

Flame Tail Snapper, combinando con la Clouser.

Expertos dicen que el Blue Fin Tre se alimenta de los desechos radioactivos del atolón de Muroroa, de ahí su increible color.

Experts say that the Blue Fin Tre feeds off atomic waste from the Muroroa Atoll, therefore it´s amazing coloration.
